August Charles

KITE Stage   Saturday   18:45

Born in Ndola, Zambia and raised throughout the UK, August grew up between two worlds, that cannot be more different. Influenced by the music of Frank Ocean, Leon Bridges, Sampha and King Krule, he first started exploring his vocal abilities at the age of 12 as a member of a Doncaster high school choir.

August Charle’s musical vocabulary includes Soul, R&B, Indie Pop and Jazz. The melancholy of his voice transcends the listener into the serenity of exploration and emotional deep diving. More recently August Charles was listed as one of the upcoming artists to watch by BBC Introducing leading to features on BBC Radio 1 & Jazz FM. The singer-songwriter performed at Tramlines 2021 & supported the likes of Richard Spaven, while his latest single “Blessed” was promoted on multi Spotify playlists such as Alternative R&B, my life is a movie, Lowkey & many more.
